Qué tiene esta lotería

Es la lotería mexicana de 54 cartas que ya conoces (el gallo, la dama, la luna, el catrín), con nuestras ilustraciones propias, pero con el nombre de cada carta en inglés: The Rooster, The Lady, The Moon. En lugar del verso tradicional, cada carta trae una oración corta y sencilla en inglés, del nivel de los primeros años de estudio: presente simple, colores, números y verbos de todos los días.

El gritón en línea usa una voz en inglés del navegador: canta la oración y luego el nombre de la carta. Así los jugadores escuchan la pronunciación y, al mismo tiempo, ven el dibujo, que les da la pista del significado. Si tu equipo no tiene voces en inglés, el juego avisa y puedes leer tú en voz alta.

Cómo jugarla en clase

  1. Antes de jugar: repasa diez o doce cartas con el grupo. Muestra el dibujo, di el nombre en inglés y pide que lo repitan.
  2. Reparte las tablas: con 3×3 la partida dura unos 10 minutos y es buena para los más chicos; con 4×4 dura de 15 a 20.
  3. Canta en inglés: usa el gritón en línea con el proyector o lee tú las oraciones. Pide que marquen solo cuando entiendan la palabra, sin ver la carta: así practican la escucha.
  4. Al ganar: quien grite «¡Lotería!» lee en voz alta, en inglés, las cartas de su línea. Si las dice bien, gana.

Variantes para practicar más

  • Escucha y dibuja: el gritón dice la oración sin mostrar la carta; los alumnos adivinan cuál es antes de marcar.
  • Al revés: el maestro dice el nombre en español y los alumnos lo marcan diciendo el nombre en inglés.
  • Oraciones propias: cada alumno escribe una oración nueva para una carta de su tabla («The sun is hot») y la lee al marcarla.
  • Categorías: antes de cantar, el grupo clasifica las cartas en animals, food, music, people y things.

Ejemplo: un grupo de 28 alumnos

Pide 30 tablas de 3×3 a 2 por hoja: son 15 hojas tamaño carta. Guarda la serie (por ejemplo LT-K7Q2M) y elige «3×3» en el tamaño al verificar. En una clase de 50 minutos caben un repaso de 10 minutos, dos partidas de línea y una de tabla llena. Para la siguiente clase usa otra serie y cambia a 4×4: así nadie juega con la misma tabla.

Preguntas frecuentes

¿Por qué «Death» no lleva «The»?

En inglés, la muerte como personaje se nombra sin artículo: Death. Las demás cartas llevan The porque así se presentan en la lotería: «el gallo», «la luna».

¿Por qué hay un ajolote y un tecolote?

En nuestra baraja cambiamos dos cartas tradicionales que retratan a personas con estereotipos por el tecolote (The Owl) y el ajolote (The Axolotl). Conservan el número 26 y 38. Lo explicamos en las 54 cartas.

¿Las tablas son las mismas que las de la lotería en español?

No: los dibujos son los mismos, pero cada página arma sus propias tablas. Verifica cada tabla en el gritón de la misma página donde la imprimiste.

¿Qué voz usa el gritón?

La voz en inglés que tenga tu equipo (primero inglés de Estados Unidos). En Windows, Android, iPhone y Mac suele venir al menos una. Puedes cambiarla y bajar la velocidad en «Ajustes».

¿Sirve para adultos que aprenden inglés?

Sí. Con adultos funciona bien la variante «al revés» (decir la palabra en inglés al marcar) y pedir una oración nueva con cada carta de la línea ganadora.
